Found Artifacts

Licking Run Creek, Memorial Park

These artifacts were found in the Licking Run creek located along Quakertown's Memorial Park. The creek is a tributary of Beaver Run which is a tributary of the Tohickon creek. It was commonly the site of trash dumping up to the 1980s with pieces of buildings, pottery, china, bottles, bricks, etc being strewn about, some of which date as early as the early 20th century. The artifacts in the collection include pottery and china fragments as well as bottle fragments such as a short beer bottleneck and a shard from a bottle made by the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company. One of the most recent pieces that could be dated is a Coca-Cola bottle fragment from the 1970s or 1980s. The picture at the top left is a postcard from the 1940s depicting the creek. At the bottom left is a photo of some of the artifacts found in the creek.
