Carte de Visite and Cabinet Card Collection

A cabinet card is a type of photograph which was popular from around 1866 to 1914. They measured around 6.5 by 4.25 inches. These photographs usually consisted of a photograph mounted to a piece of cardboard. They were similar to the Carte de Visite, which was a smaller type of photograph that would be mounted onto pieces of cardboard measuring about 4 by 2.5 inches. Carte de Visites were usually from the mid-1850s up until around 1910.
